Residents asked to help with parks master plan

DOWNEY - Downey residents are invited to get involved in planning the city's first ever Parks & Recreation Master Plan, a document that will set a future direction for Downey parks, programs, services and capital improvements over the next 10 years.The first meeting will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Golden Park. A second meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2 at Apollo Park. All residents are invited to attend, including children. The master plan is being developed by the city's Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the Department of Urban & Regional Planning at Cal Poly Pomona. "This is a great opportunity to become involved as we prepare for the future of Downey Parks & Recreation," city officials said in a statement.
