Credit union donates $12K to local hospitals

DOWNEY - Financial Partners Credit Union recently donated more than $12,000 in contributions and gifts to a number of local hospitals and healthcare facilities in Los Angeles and Orange counties.The credit union donated $3,250 to Ranchos Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, including a $2,500 sponsorship for its Amistad Gala (held April 13) and $250 for its May 18 Roll Around the Ranch Walk. Credit union staff also volunteered at the Walk event, and donated a television for the recreation room of the Downey-based facility which provides care for persons with physical disabilities. "The dedicated Rancho staff members make immense strides every day to restore health, rebuild life and revitalize hope, helping to guarantee that our patients have the confidence needed to successfully achieve their goals of living independent and satisfying lives. Financial Partners helps make this possible," said Sarah Kirwan, public information officer and market director for Rancho Los Amigos. Financial Partners also donated $5,000 to Jordin's Journey to benefit Children's Hospital of Orange County's (CHOC) Hematology Department in support of a new blood machine. On June 21, the credit union staff helped celebrate the unveiling of the electrophoresis system (blood machine) at ribbon cutting ceremonies at the CHOC Children's Clinic. Among those benefiting from the machine is Financial Partners Wealth Management Operations Manager Karen Wilson's daughter, Jordin Jackson, who was born with sickle cell disease. Wilson created Jordin's Journey to help raise money for the machine needed for sickle cell patients at CHOC. "This blood machine will help in so many important ways, including use as an assessment tool for doctors for treatment effectiveness in children with sickle cell anemia suffering from a pulmonary crisis or stroke," said Nader Moghaddam, Financial Partners CEO. "Being able to assist hospitals and facilities like CHOC in such a tangible manner is just one more way we provide support to our local communities, fulfilling critical needs for patients like Jordin." The credit union provided a $1,500 sponsorship of Downey Regional Medical Center's 28th annual Golf Classic, and staff volunteered at the May 31 event. It also provided a $1,500 sponsorship for the Citrus Valley Health Partners' (CVHP) golf tournament. CVHP is comprised of Citrus Valley Medical Center-Inter-Community Campus in Covina, Citrus Valley Medical Center-Queen of the Valley Campus in West Covina, Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, and Citrus Valley Hospice in West Covina. In addition, for Nurses Week (May 6-12), Financial Partners donated a $500 television for CHOC and delivered individual gift baskets to various local hospitals.
