Downey war heroes topic of meeting

DOWNEY - Veteran World War II and Korean War researcher Bill Beigel will speak about his interest in fallen Downey High School war heroes during a program this Thursday, April 25, at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and is part of the Downey Historical Society's regular meeting. Beigel is a contracts manager at Southern California Edison and not a professional historical researcher. However, he has studied war casualties for several decades and has done research work for about 500 clients. Among his work is an aggregation of soldiers from Downey High School who were killed, wounded or made prisoners of war during World War II and in Korea. The meeting is free and open to the public.
