Griffiths Middle School raises money for rainforest

DOWNEY - Students and faculty at Griffiths Middle School raised $1,200 during a recent fundraising effort to benefit rainforest conservation.For the past 17 years the school has taken part in "Pennies for the Rainforest", raising more than $8,000 for the Nature Conservancy, which purchases and protects acres of rainforest. Every year, the homeroom class that raises the most money wins a donut party. Mrs. Randee Chambers' sixth grade class has won the competition four years in a row, including this year after collecting $242 in only a week.
