Dear Editor:I find it sad that the politicians in this state feel it is a better idea to tax the working man's beverage choice than spend their time and resources fostering an environment for job and employment growth - and all in the name of fighting obesity. They should be ashamed of themselves. Taxing sugary beverages will not make people healthier. The current price of a 20 oz. bottle of Coke at my neighborhood corner store is $1.68. The new price, if passed, will be $1.88. I will not stop buying it, and neither will other people. This is a blatant overreach for funds that lead to nowhere. Throw the crooks out!
