Warren High students raise $30K

DOWNEY - Warren High School students raised more than $30,000 to benefit the school district's TLC Center. The fundraising campaign, titled "Pennies for TLC," prompted competitions between different classrooms to see who could raise the most money for TLC, a resource center that provides counseling, low cost health insurance and other services for needy Downey students. The TLC Center operates solely on charitable contributions and foundation grants. Many teachers got involved in the fundraising as well, coordinating on fundraising events with local shops and restaurants. "What an amazing group of people who are supporting children's health programs in their own community and their own school as funds raised go directly back to Downey students," DUSD officials said in a statement. "Way to show that character counts, Warren Bears!"
