Art, culture event returns to Norwalk
NORWALK - The city of Norwalk is bringing back its award-winning "ARTastic" event on Saturday, March 15, a free event featuring art projects, game booths, a book fair, craft fair and chalk art contest.The event is from 1-5 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, 13200 Clarkdale Ave. The family-friendly event also features a train ride through the park, caricature artists, henna tattoos, and the Cultural Art Center's "CAC Art Box Exhibit," which features artists who have showcased their work at the Mary Paxon Art Gallery. There will also be live performances by Norwalk's All-City Youth Band, Norwalk's Youth Mariachi, a piano recital, and a performance by Creative Lil' Hands participants. The All-City Youth Band will be selling lunch, and vendors will be on-site selling kettle corn and shaved ice. The free event received an Award of Excellence from the California Park & Recreation Society last year, and was honored at the 2013 California and Pacific Southwest Recreation and Park Training Conference.
