Benefit concert Monday at St. Pius X
DOWNEY - St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy is hosting a benefit concert this Monday as it raises money to reconstruct a village in a section of the Philippines devastated by a typhoon last year.
DJ Roy Samson and DJ VREAL will begin spinning music at 3 p.m., followed by the live concert at 5. Scheduled to perform live are Paul J. Kim, Resonate, Jacob and Matthew Band.
Festivities also include a tailgate party with food trucks and a photo booth.
Admission to the event is $10, with all proceeds benefiting Human Nature USA, which is partnering with St. Pius X to build a 100-home village in the Philippines.
"It is our privilege to partner with Human Nature USA to help rebuild and transform the lives of those affected by the devastation in the Philippines," said Erick Rubalcava, principal at St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy. "Through this benefit concert we will witness and experience the power of the gospel message to be people of hope as we share the love of Christ with our Filipino brothers and sisters through our support, love and prayers...I hope you can join us."
The concert and festival is from 3-7 p.m. on the school campus, located at 7851 Gardendale St. in Downey.
A live web stream of the event will be transmitted to the Philippines.
