Historian is guest speaker

DOWNEY - Historian and biographer Nicholas Curry will discuss the late civic leader Parley Johnson at the Feb. 27 meeting of the Downey Historical Society.Curry moved to Downey seven years ago after spending all of his life in San Marino and Pasadena. He has compiled biographical manuscripts on many influential local families, including the Bixby family, the Doheny family and Harry Chandler. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the John Downey Room at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.
