LAPD officers accused of fraud

LOS ANGELES - Arraignment has been postponed for two LAPD officers charged in separate workers' compensation fraud cases.Officer John Hall was charged in December with insurance fraud, attempted perjury under oath and grand theft. The 19-year LAPD veteran claimed he injured his back while on duty and was placed on leave. On multiple occasions in 2013, while on paid leave, Hall allegedly was observed on a boat helping to carry heavy diving equipment and providing scuba diving instructions to an undercover police officer. Officer Ralph Mendoza allegedly altered a doctor's return-to-work slip in June 2012. He has been charged with insurance fraud and grand theft. If convicted, Hall faces up to eight years in county jail. Mendoza faces up to six years in jail.
