Man arraigned in 'doggie door' burglary
PASADENA - A Pasadena man was arraigned last week for the alleged burglary of a home five days before Christmas.Alexander Canela, 18, pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree residential burglary. He is due back in court Jan. 16. Prosecutors say that on Dec. 20, Canela was involved in a burglary at a house in the 900 block of N. Madison Avenue in Pasadena. They added that several persons allegedly entered the home through a doggie door and stole $23,000 worth of property. Among the stolen items were televisions, computers and tablets, sports memorabilia, jewelry, World War II medals, and the cremated remains of the resident's parents. Canela is being held on $50,000 bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
