Nominations open for mayor's Healthy Heart Award
DOWNEY - Nomination forms are now available for the "Mayor's Healthy Heart Award," presented by Mayor Fernando Vasquez before City Council meetings to members of the community who "make a difference in the lives of others by improving their emotional, mental or physical health."Eligible recipients must meet the following criteria: Nominee must live or work in Downey. Nominees can be a business (for-profit, non-profit or government) in Downey. Nominee should be nominated for an act or action that has improved the quality of health (emotional, physical or mental) for one or more people in Downey. Examples of persons who may qualify include: doctors, nurses, nurses, therapists, social workers, coaches, psychologists, priests/ministers, and other professions. Examples of businesses that may qualify include: healthcare providers, non-profits, restaurants, service clubs, healthcare facilities, independent practice associations, and sports organizations. The person/business submitting the nomination does not need to live or work in Downey. Nomination forms are available online at downeyca.org and should be mailed to Secretary to the City Council, Shirley Conte, 11111 Brookshire Ave., Downey, CA 90241 or e-mailed to sconte@downeyca.org.
