Pizza delivery man robbed in Whittier

WHITTIER - A Pico Rivera man was arrested last week on suspicion of robbing a pizza delivery man, and authorities suspect he may be responsible for a string of similar incidents. The victim said he was delivering pizzas to the 8400 block of Bradwell Avenue in unincorporated Whittier at about 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 when he was approached by the suspect who demanded all of his property at gunpoint. The robber took the pizzas and cash before running away. Sheriff's deputies searched the area and found a man matching the suspect's description at a convenience store on Pioneer Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. The suspect, 38-year-old Jesus Rivas of Pico Rivera, was still holding the cash, pizzas and a black replica firearm. Rivas was arrested for robbery and booked at the Pico Rivera Sheriff's Station in lieu of $100,000 bail. Rivas is believed to be responsible for three other similar robberies that occurred within Pico Rivera Station jurisdiction within the past week.
