Dear Editor:I would like to thank the Downey Police Department for the excellent community service they provided as shown in the video posted by the Downey Patriot on Facebook on Jan. 4. The video shows Downey police officers running a traffic break for a stray dog running through traffic on Lakewood Boulevard near the old McDonald's. The actions of these officers not only saved the dog's life, but it also prevented a likely serious traffic collision. It is reasons like these that make me proud to live in Downey and so incredibly proud of our police department. Great job! Sherri Espinosa Downey
