Gay slur

Dear Editor: It’s Friday evening and I’m doing what I often do on a Friday evening – look through the Downey Patriot.

I just finished reading Greta Campbell’s letter about the experience she had upon leaving the Stonewood food court and having a gay slur directed to her. Her letter was painful to read.

I do not know Greta, but I do know that no matter how self-confident we may be in who we are or in what we do, as humans we are all easily wounded by unkind words directed to us. Her letter was proof of that.

I could spend time commenting on what happened here, but right now, I really just want to tell Greta how sorry I am that she was the target of such unnecessary and hurtful language.
