Greek fraternity hosts convention

DOWNEY – Former Downey resident Sylvia Contreras represented Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity’s Long Beach Alumnae Chapter at the organization’s 52nd national and 41st international convention in Los Angeles last month. Contreras serves as her alumnae chapter’s vice president and as a collegiate advisor for the Theta Phi Chapter at Cal State Fullerton.

Zeta Tau Alpha was founded in 1898 at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Va., and has more than 231,000 members worldwide. It is the nation’s second largest Greek women’s group.
