Library competing in e-book contest

DOWNEY – The Downey City Library is asking its patrons to check out as many e-books as possible before Monday as it competes for a $2500 prize. If the library reaches 485 e-book checkouts by the end of Monday, it will receive $2500 to purchase new electronic reading material.

The contest is sponsored by Overdrive, the library’s e-book vendor.

Patrons can help the library by logging on to downey.lib.overdrive.com and borrowing three e-books.

The library’s e-book collection consists of nearly 900 books, including several recently-released titles.
