Teen excursions this summer

DOWNEY – Downey’s Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled several summer events for local teens. Below is a full schedule; for questions or to sign-up, call the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center at (562) 904-7223.

Pool Party at Downey Aquatic Center

Friday, July 11, 7-9 p.m.

Grades: 6-8

Cost: $5

Middle school students need to be picked up by an adult from the pool gate. Students will not be released without an adult.

Beach Day at Huntington Beach

Thursday, July 31

Grades: 8-12

Cost: $5

Students will be picked up and returned at the Barbara Riley Center. A light lunch is provided but money to purchase additional food and souvenirs is encouraged. Deadline to register is July 30.

Pool Party at Downey Aquatic Center

Friday, Aug. 8, 7-9 p.m.

Grades: 9-12

Cost: $5

Activities include a dance floor featuring DJ Beatdrop, an animated game truck and snack bar.

Bowling Night

Thursday, Aug. 14, 8 p.m.

Grades: 6-12

Cost: $15

Meet at Del Rio Lanes for a night of bowling with friends. Each lane holds five people and spaces are limited. The night includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza and drinks. Deadline to register is Aug. 11.
