Teens can volunteer at City Hall

DOWNEY – The city of Downey has volunteer opportunities for teens who need volunteer hours for school or want to gain skills and leadership experience. High school students can work in various departments at City Hall, including Building & Planning, Engineering, Human Resources, Fire Prevention, and Purchasing.

Both middle school and high school students can also help at city-wide special events and youth programs at local parks.

A volunteer orientation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 4:30 p.m. at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center.

Volunteer interest forms are available at the city’s Parks & Recreation office or online at downeyca.org.
