'Boeing Boeing' opens at LB Playhouse
LONG BEACH - "Boeing Boeing," the wildly popular French farce by Marc Camoletti, opens at the Long Beach Playhouse mainstage this Saturday.Directed by Playhouse stalwart James Rice, the comedy features politically incorrect themes that are a sign of the times for this French comedy set in the 1960s. "Boeing Boeing" tells the story of Bernard, a swinging bachelor who couldn't be happier: he lives in a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses are all engaged to him without knowing about each other. Bernard's perfect life, however, gets bumpy when his friend, Robert, comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously, timid Robert is forgetting which lies to tell to whom, and catastrophe looms. "Boeing Boeing" plays through Dec. 7. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $24 adults, $21 seniors and $14 students, and can be purchased by calling (562) 494-1014 or online at lbplayhouse.org.
