Downey's Erin Freeman commits to Utah State

DOWNEY - Downey High School senior and four star tennis recruit Erin Freeman has announced she will attend Utah State.During her senior season at Downey, Freeman recorded 23 wins over other four-star recruits to earn a ranking of No. 123 in the country. "Erin hits a very heavy ball and has unlimited potential as a college player," said Utah State women's tennis head coach Sean McInerney. "She has already proven that she can beat a very high-caliber player, and I am very excited for this program to take her game to the next level. She will be a great teammate and will be an immediate contributor to our program." Freeman cited her relationship with McInerney as a deciding factor in choosing Utah State. "I really like Coach McInerney," she said. "I believe he is the right coach for me and can push me to the next level. I think we hit it off, and I hope the relationship continues to grow." "I chose Utah State because I felt like it was a good fit for me," Freeman added. "I really like that I have the opportunity to be the start of the turn of the program, and I think that working with Coach McInerney we will have a great season." Freeman plans on majoring in exercise science.
