Film students create promo video
NORWALK - Cerritos College film students Ace Caguioa and Ricardo Ramirez took on a project in collaboration with School Relations to develop a promotional video for prospective students.Caguioa and Ramirez, both of whom work as peer counselors for the School Relations Office, applied what they learned in the classroom to create a video that appeals to Cerritos College's target audience -- 18- to 24-year-olds. Caguioa was responsible for pre-production, screenwriting and scheduling while Ramirez was charged with directing, shooting and post-production. The video briefly highlights student services, academics, career technical education, athletics and student activities in just under two minutes. In addition, students from the Cinematic Arts Club volunteered to support this student-college collaborative. The finished product, "Future Students" video, is of professional quality and has received 2,000 views since its launch in June 2013. "By utilizing students, we were able to create a cost-effective video while showcasing student talent. This opportunity provided them with hands-on experience that resulted in a video which is currently being used by Cerritos College," said Shirley Arceo, coordinator of School Relations. The Future Students film project is a win-win for both parties. Cerritos College now possesses a video that entices viewers to consider this campus while cultivating career development opportunities for its talented students.
