Golf tourney raises $240K for nurse scholarships

WHITTIER - A recent golf tournament at Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier raised more than $240,000 for the PIH Health nursing education program, hospital officials announced.More than $1.3 million has been raised since the Frank Scott Pro/Am Golf Tournament began 20 years ago. This year's tournament will fund scholarships for 37 student nurses. "Investing in the nurses at PIH Health is the most significant action we can take to assure safe, high-quality patient care," said Reanna Thompson, RN, chief nursing officer at PIH Health. "The evidence is clear that quality nursing care provides better outcomes and prevents complications for patients in hospitals."
