Imperial Highway to close for work

NORWALK - Imperial Highway near the 5 Freeway undercrossing in Norwalk will be closed in the coming days as Caltrans completes work related to the freeway expansion project.Crews are drilling in the center median on Imperial Highway to drill 80-inch diameter and 100-ft. deep "cast in drill hole" foundation for a new bridge. "For the safety of the public and for work crews, full street closures are necessary during this work at this location," Caltrans officials said. Imperial will be partially closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 and Sept. 3-6. It will also be partially closed between 8-10 p.m. Sept. 3-6 and Sept. 8-13, and fully closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Local residents can expect noise from back-up alarms, large drills and other related equipment. There will also be additional lighting for work crews. Access will remain open for emergency vehicles.
