Pico Rivera pumping recycled water to Smith Park

PICO RIVERA - Pico Rivera has announced a partnership with Central Basin Municipal Water District to pump 25-acre feet of recycled water per year to Smith Park. The connection to the district's Recycled Water System is expected to save Pico Rivera more than 8 million gallons of drinking water per year. The collaborative project began over two years ago when the agencies worked on obtaining approvals and establishing a physical connection. As part of the collaboration, Central Basin also teamed up with Pico Water District and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health to conduct various site inspections. Pico Water District completed minor work at the meter connection. Smith Park, located on Rosemead Boulevard, will be using the recycled water to irrigate over eight acres of landscaping and turf, including athletic fields.
