Rose Float passes final round of testing

DOWNEY - The Downey Rose Float Association passed its final series of inspections last Saturday mandated by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.The last in a series of three tests, Test Inspection 2 included a full test operation of the entire float. "The Glass Slipper" was evaluated on the drive engine, float construction and overall move-ability of the float while in operation. Tournament officials also evaluated the driver compartments, co-drivers compartments and animation compartments for visibility, access for evacuation and ventilation. Tournament officials also performed a fire drill in which float operators and riders must be able to evacuate within 45 seconds; Downey evacuated safely in less than 31 seconds. In order to schedule this test, float construction must be 75 percent completed. The Downey Rose Float Assocation continues to seek support from the community to finish "The Glass Slipper.
