Speeding parents
Dear Editor:I am writing this letter to all East Middle School parents. As a new school year begins, I want you to be aware of what I (and all my neighbors) see out our windows every morning. We see at least 50 percent of the parents run the stop sign or, at best, slow down slightly and then proceed. We see the dad in the tan Toyota 4Runner, the mom in the black BMW, and many more of you completely disregard the stop sign. Many students walk or ride their bikes to school and yet you do not seem to notice them. We have seen many students almost hit in your hurry to school and work. Several years ago someone ran the stop sign, lost control of her car and ran into the neighbor's house. Another time a child was struck by a car and broke his leg. Please slow down and abide by the traffic laws in our neighborhood so we do not have a worse tragedy happen to any of our East Middle School students. Carrie McAllister Downey
