Coke employees beautify city

DOWNEY - Exactly 112 employees from Coca-Cola and their families helped pick trash from the railroad tracks running through Downey last Saturday.Most of the employees live elsewhere, but volunteered on their day off to "give something back to the city that houses their business." "The Coke employees were wonderful; they worked hard and thanked members of the Keep Downey Beautiful committee for giving them the opportunity to participate in the cleanup," said Carol Rowland, coordinator of Keep Downey Beautiful. "Coca-Cola provided lunch for all the volunteers after the cleanup. It was a great cleanup event." Other cleanup dates are: Oct. 17 - Los Amigos Plaza parking lot, 12818 Paramount Blvd. (at Comolette Street) Nov. 21 - Empire Liquor parking lot, 8710 Imperial Hwy. (at Barlin Avenue) Dec. 19 - Rail road tracks behind Denny's Restaurant, 8350 Firestone Blvd. (at Dolan Avenue)
