Crime Report: 6/4/26
On 5/25/26, at approximately 1030 hours, officers responded to a 594/459 PC. The suspect had cut a 6 foot by 2 foot wall into a neighboring apartment. Officers attempted for several hours to communicate with and get the suspect to surrender. CNT and a flashbang were used but the suspect refused to surrender. Due to the suspects actions and history the SWAT Team was activated and the suspect surrendered without incident.
On 5/25/26, at approximately 2010 hours, officers responded to Florence and the west city limits. The victim was at the riverbed when he observed the suspect (M/H transient) confronting people holding a 2x4. The victim told the suspect to stop and the suspect approached the victim. The suspect struck the victim in the thigh area with the 2x4 and swung it several more times, attempting to strike the victim in the head. The suspect pulled out a knife and swung it at the victim, but did not cut or strike him. The suspect heard a helicopter and ran away. Officers located the suspect in the riverbed south of Florence and took him into custody without incident.
On 5/25/26, at approximately 2000 hours, officers responded to 8855 Apollo Way regarding an assault and robbery. Two juvie suspects (16/17/m/Downey) attempted to steal a skateboard from the victim. After a brief struggle over the skateboard, one of the suspects brandished a knife and tried to stab the victim. The suspects fled the area without the loss. Officers located the suspect nearby; however, the suspect began to flee on foot. Officers were able to detain both suspects without incident; however, no knife was found.
