Crime Report, Aug. 29, 2016

Friday, August 19:

At 9:30 a.m., officers patrolling the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed cited 6 subjects for trespassing after it was determined they had established an encampment.

At 2:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Warren High School, regarding a boy with a gun. When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old boy near Warren High School who matched the description. Further investigation revealed the boy was armed with a BB gun but was also in possession of illegal drugs. He was arrested for possession of the drugs and eventually transported to Juvenile Hall.

At 11:30 p.m., officers were advised of a stolen car in the 12500 block of Bellflower Blvd. Officers located the car at Bellflower and the 105 freeway where they conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 20-year-old man from the City of Long Beach, was detained and later booked for grand theft auto.

Saturday, August 20:

At midnight, officers were dispatched to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (11500 Brookshire) after a man arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to his leg. The man claimed he was shot by an unknown suspect in the City of Long Beach.

At 10:30 a.m., Downey officers assisted the California Highway Patrol in the 9900 block of Imperial Highway. CHP was searching for a man who assaulted one of their officers. The CHP officer had been impounding the man’s vehicle on the freeway, when the man became assaultive. The man was captured a short time later in the 10000 block of Imperial Hwy. CHP took custody of the suspect for booking.

Sunday, August 21:

At 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Imperial & Lakewood regarding a subject walking into traffic. Upon arrival, they detained a man who was intentionally walking into traffic. The man appeared to be having psychiatric problems so he was transported to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation due to his dangerous behavior.

At 11:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Regentview and Stewart & Gray after a subject broke the window of a truck, with the owner watching. Officers responded and detained a subject close by. The subject being detained was identified by the semi-truck owner during a field show up. The suspect was booked for vandalism.

Monday, August 22:

At 7:00 a.m., officers cited 9 subjects for trespassing on the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed due to them having established an encampment on the property. Four of the subjects were also arrested for outstanding warrants.
