Downey dance team wins national championship

DOWNEY — Downey High School’s 2019 dance team was named a five-time national champion at the USA Dance Nationals in Anaheim earlier this month.

They were also presented the Judge’s Award of Excellence and Best Choreography.

The team is directed by Leslie Patterson and assisted by Cassie Garcia and Alicia Martinez; all three are alumni of Downey Unified.
