Downey driver cleared in crash that killed 4-year-old girl

DOWNEY — A 4-year-old girl was killed Friday when she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street in Long Beach, police said.

The driver of the truck was identified as a 25-year-old Downey man.

Police said the girl was crossing the street near Paramount Boulevard and 55th Way at 6:58 pm when she was struck by a 2020 Ford F-150.

The girl, who was not inside a marked crosswalk when she was hit, died at a local hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators do not believe he was speeding, distracted or impaired at the time of the crash.
