DUSD novels open for public viewing

DOWNEY — Downey Unified invites the public to examine novels being considered for adoption by the Board of Education for use in middle school and high school.

Copies of the textbooks and novels will be on display for three consecutive weeks on the second-floor lobby of the Gallegos Administration Center at 11627 Brookshire Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, May 7, until June 3.

The policy of the Board of Education provides that anyone wishing to offer suggestions or criticism about textbooks proposed for adoption must submit comments in writing to the Superintendent seven days prior to the Board meeting at which the books will be adopted.

Adoption will be recommended at the Board of Education meeting scheduled for June 4 at 5 p.m. in the Grace E. Horney Board Room of the Gallegos Administration Center.

The materials selected are in alignment with State Content Standards as required by California Code of Regulation (CCR), Title 5, Section 9531(a).
