Victim in road rage shooting not expected to survive

DOWNEY – A 19-year-old man is not expected to survive after he was shot following a suspected road rage dispute Monday night.

According to witnesses, the victim was involved in a traffic collision with another vehicle Monday on Old River School Road.

After pulling over on Quill Drive, the driver of the second vehicle exited and shot the teen, striking him in the head, witnesses said.

Bystanders rushed to help the victim, who was transported to a local trauma center. He is not expected to survive, said Lt. Kathleen Mendoza of the Downey Police Department.

Police arrested 20-year-old Cameron Thomas, of Ft. Worth, Tex., that same night and charged him with attempted murder.
