NOTICE AND SUMMARY OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY APPROVING EIGHTH AMENDMENT TO INTERSTATE 5 CONSORTIUM CITIES JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT

Notice is hereby given that on January 27, 2026, the City Council of the City of Downey will consider the adoption of an Ordinance approving the eighth amendment to the Interstate 5 Consortium Cities Joint Powers Agreement. The following is a summary of the proposed Ordinance:

Under Section 518 of the Downey City Charter, any contract, lease, or extension thereof for a period longer than ten years must be approved by ordinance. The City is party to the Interstate 5 Consortium Cities Joint Powers Agreement, which has been in effect since 1990. The proposed Ordinance approves the eighth amendment to this Agreement extending the term of the Agreement through November 1, 2030.
